A3 Farms Update MAY 2019

Hello A3Farms Customers,
We hope you all have been enjoying this beautiful Spring weather.  We certainly have.
Our lambs will be getting close to weaning time in the next couple of weeks, so it will be pretty noisy around here for a few days.  We separate them, the mothers and lambs, with field fence, so they are right next to each other, but the lambs cannot nurse.  This is the best way to do it and not stress them out too much.  There is always stress though on both the Moms as they dry off and the lambs being dependent on their Moms.  So we keep a good eye out for any that are not doing well. In a few days, things settle down.  We wait about a month and then put the ewe lambs back in with their mothers.  By this time, they no longer want to nurse, but are separated from the ram lambs, for obvious reasons.

My two bottle fed lambs after they ate.  Loved the sky that afternoon following a storm.  They headed back to the flock after this picture was taken.

MEAT CHICKEN’S: Jim will be processing the last batch of meat chickens this Saturday, May 4th.  We will not process another batch until the fall.  We will always have frozen chickens throughout the summer. If you would like to reserve chickens, please reply to this email and let Amy know how many, about what size and where you would like to pick up.  We will bring the chickens fresh to the Orange Park market this Sunday, May 5th or you can pick up at the farm, after 4:30 on Sunday, May 5th.

MARKET SCHEDULE: We will NOT be attending the Midway Farmer’s Market, this coming Saturday, May 4th.  We are sorry, but Jim will be butchering chickens and Amy is taking a vacation.  We will be back the following Saturday.

Orange Park Farmer’s MarketJim will be at the Orange Park Market this Sunday, weather permitting, May 5th , from 10am- 3pm.
